i've been in contact with a fellow shooter from the philly area who has been involved in a league that benefits the
Joey Howlett Jr. Saints N.Y.B.
i'm sure that posting this on friday afternoon, when the league starts on saturday is going to grab about zero new members. but, it's about more than that.
their friend Joey was a young man (of 26) who was just starting a family when he passed away from an enlarged heart and clogged arteries. so, in his memory, they put together a New Year's Band that marches in the Mummer's parade on New Year's Day.
and even though it's a labor of love, there are costs involved, and they've been running dart leagues as a way to generate enough money to cover the costs of marching.
so, as a heads up to anyone who lives in the area, in case they decide to host a tournament or any such thing, i thought i'd share a link to their site . . .
